Title: Estimated Kalmia latifolia and Rhododendron maximum canopy cover at 29 soil moisture monitoring plots in the southern Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina.
Abstract: Understory canopy cover was visually estimated for evergreen shrubs Kalmia latifolia and Rhododendron maximum at twenty-three plots in the Coweeta basin, three plots in the Beetree watershed, and three plots in Bent Creek Experimental Forest. The plots comprise a network of sensor stations that monitor soil moisture, soil temperature, and air temperature Southern Appalachians of western North Carolina.
