"Migration Celebration" at LTLT's Tessentee Bottomland Preserve

We are partnering with LTLT, Southern Appalachian Raptor Research program, and Balsam Mountain Trust to host a "Migration Celebration" at LTLT's Tessentee Bottomland Preserve this Saturday, October 10th.  From 9-11am we will be catching and banding migrating songbirds and from 11am - 1pm I'll be leading a Monarch tagging/butterfly catching and release event.

This event is modeled after our "Migration Celebration" schoolyard LTER event that we have have hosted the past 6 years for Macon County 6th graders.  Aside from education, we also hope to make more folks aware of our educational events and hope the event will generate donations from the local community to help support these events.  Funds raised will go towards LTLT and SARR outreach and education to help stretch our schoolyard LTER dollars a bit further.

Please pass the word - this is a great family event and is open from ages 1 to 101.  Great way to spend a fall day in the mountains. . .
